Keep reading. Keep writing. Keep submitting.

Rejection is essential to the writer's life because it pushes you to be your best and gives you some perspective on the quality of your work. You're writing in a wonderful era for African literature, there are many places where your work will be considered. Both the African Literary Directory and Commonwealth Writer's have a constantly updated list of current opportunities. In addition, we've put together a list of publications that accept submissions of #AfricanLit short stories.

Ask any successful author and they'll tell you, what a writer needs more than anything else is sheer bloody-mindedness.

Good luck.
